Cocktails, Hor d’oeurves, & Decor for NYE

Every year I throw a raging New Years Eve. Not really, last year we had a very sophisticated ‘blind wine tasting’ party that did turn out to be a little bit of a rager. I’ll spare you the details but it did involve a pirate eye patch and drinking Captain Morgan from a bottle and some broken glass. Don’t judge, tasting 30 bottles of wine tends to get to ya!

Anyways, when throwing a NYE party (an adult-only NYE party), it’s important to keep the booze flowing, make the stroke of midnight a fun and special event, and to provide some sort of entertainment so hittin’ the sauce isn’t the only thing for your guests to do.

Our theme last year (wine tasting) wasn’t a super organized event but it was fun to drink mysterious white and red liquid from a bag and try to sound like you know what you are talking about. It was fun to have people bring a hearty mix of expensive and cheap wine and see what everyone liked. A certain wine snob who shall remain nameless ended up raving over a $8.99 bottle of Cupcake wine! It was priceless. We also had a raunchy game of Cards Against Humanity and darts going on as well as a lovely fire in our outdoor fire pit. A champagne toast and an off-tune melody of kazoos rang in the New Year. Finally, no party is complete without a special holiday cocktail and some tasty hor d’oeuvres to munch on! Here are some of our office favorites:
