Loft Life

Whether you live in an NYC apartment, a tiny midtown cottage or a ranch-style house in the ‘burbs, creating a ‘loft-y’ design isn’t out of reach. Most of us have seen those tantalizing photos in Dwell magazine featuring urban, industrial-style loft designs and instantly envy the high-ceilings, exposed concrete columns and large windows that create a perfect canvas for this sleek, stylish, and uncluttered design style. Secretly, I can’t help hating the fortunate soul who resides there with expertly coiffed hair, stylish ‘nerd glasses’ and purposely cuffed pants showing off their perfectly polished boots. Ugh.

Alas, you may not have the same loft-like space but you can create a cool design that is warm, inviting and super chic. We found this to-die-for dining room image on Pinterest and loved it so much, we wanted to re-create it for you with a reasonable price tag.

Our version features a gorgeous cowhide rug that sets the stage while architectural wood chairs paired with a chrome and glass table adds sweet sophistication. The room is a study in clean neutrality with a mellow ‘pop’ of amber colored accessories. A retro sputnik lamp adds the finishing touch to a space that is worthy of praise and just may land you a coveted pin on Pinterest!

This dining room whispers, because it’s too sophisticated to yell, “Sleek and chic. Chic and sleek.” Perfect for a loft, the elegant and unfussy look starts with a warm and unique take on a sputnik chandelier with amber colored glass detail, the colors of which are echoed in the cowhide rug, credenza and tableware. The chrome table is a sleek modern backdrop for these super cool, mid-century-vibed architectural chairs. So sleek, so sophisticated, so YOU.
